Vernon God Little

by DBC Pierre

I was quite put off to begin with by the language but as it is written through the eyes of a 15 year old maybe it fits- I also enjoyed some of the humour but by the end of it I was left wondering whether I had missed something.

I bought this book to take on a long flight and didn't really know what to expect. I have to say I loved it, it made me laugh as well as being an interesting story that gripped me until the end. I think that because Vernon was a teenager I wasn't bothered by the language and the sometimes lewdness as I may have otherwise been (just me playing a little to stereotypes perhaps!). I didn't find the book challenging at all and it is now one of my favourites.
