The Remains of the Day

by Kazuo Ishiguro

Caught in the Middle describes exactly how I feel at the moment. Here in the middle page 119 of 258, I'm totally caught up in this story of the Butler and the Housekeeper - and so much more ...

I realise that I'm unfashionably late in discovering the works of Ishiguro for myself but the pleasure was well worth waiting for!

This book is the perfect antidote to now. The subtle interactions, prejudices and concerns of these characters are revealed with such subtlety, it makes me think of the Japanese tea ceremony. Perfect, precise, and loaded with meaning.
