The House of Leaves

by Mark Z. Danielewski

The publisher itself describes this book as "experimental" fiction - in that a variety of fonts and writing styles are used as well as pictures, photos, and an obscene amount of footnotes!
But that doesn't describe the book...
It's an engrossing, albeit challenging read, about a house that is bigger on the inside than the outside and an ill-fated expedition to explore its depths. Partially horror and also a discourse on illusion and reality, this book will be unlike anything you have read before, and you will be the better for having read it.
